Last updated: June 2026
1. About These Terms
These terms of use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website operated by the International Association of Evidence-Based Psychotherapy ("IAEBP", "we", "us" or "our") at iaebp.com (the "Website"), including any services, content, features and functionality offered through the Website.
By accessing or using this Website, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, you must not use the Website.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised version will be effective from the date we publish it on the Website. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by posting a notice on the Website or emailing registered members). Your continued use of the Website after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. About the IAEBP
The IAEBP is a not-for-profit professional membership body for evidence-based psychotherapists. We are registered in the United Kingdom and our members include therapists practising in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Jersey and other jurisdictions. Our contact email is info@iaebp.com.
3. Accessing the Website
We do not guarantee that the Website, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted. We may suspend, withdraw, restrict or change all or any part of the Website without notice.
You are responsible for ensuring that all persons who access the Website through your internet connection are aware of these Terms and comply with them.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at our discretion, including where we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms.
For information about membership categories, fees, auto-renewal and cancellation, please refer to our Membership Terms, which form a separate agreement.
5. Acceptable Use
You may use the Website only for lawful purposes. You must not:
-
use the Website in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
-
use the Website in any way that is fraudulent or deceptive, or has any fraudulent or deceptive purpose or effect;
-
transmit or procure the sending of any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material;

-
collect or harvest any personal data from other users of the Website.
A limited exception to the restriction on automated tools is provided to general-purpose internet search engines that use standard crawlers for the sole purpose of indexing the Website, provided they comply with our robots.txt file.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on the Website — including text, images, graphics, logos, page layout, software and source code — is owned by or licensed to the IAEBP and is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws.
You may view, download and print content from the Website for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not modify it and you retain all copyright and proprietary notices.
You must not otherwise reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, republish, download, store or transmit any content from the Website without our prior written permission, except as permitted by law.
All rights not expressly granted to you under these Terms are reserved by the IAEBP.
7. User Content
"User Content" means any material you submit to the Website, including forum posts, blog comments, profile information, reviews, messages and any other contributions.
By submitting User Content, you:
-
grant the IAEBP a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, display and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the Website and the IAEBP's activities;
-
confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to submit the content and to grant the licence above; and
-
confirm that the content is accurate, does not infringe any third party's rights, and does not breach these Terms or any applicable law.
We do not claim ownership of your User Content. The licence you grant us is limited to what is reasonably necessary to operate the Website and our services.
We reserve the right (but have no obligation) to review, edit or remove any User Content that we consider inappropriate, inaccurate, or in breach of these Terms. We are not responsible for the views or opinions expressed in User Content posted by other users.
8. Forums and Communication Services
The Website may include forums, message boards, and other interactive features ("Communication Services"). Content posted in these areas represents the views of individual users, not the IAEBP, and we do not endorse or guarantee its accuracy.
When using Communication Services, you must not post content that:
-
is unlawful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene or otherwise objectionable;
-
infringes any person's intellectual property rights or rights of privacy;
-
contains advertising or commercial solicitation without our prior approval; or
-
could give rise to criminal or civil liability.
We reserve the right to remove content from and restrict access to Communication Services at our discretion.
9. Therapist Directory
The IAEBP operates a directory of therapists on the Website. Listings in the directory are provided for information only and do not constitute a recommendation or endorsement by the IAEBP of any listed therapist.
You should carry out your own assessment of the suitability of any therapist before engaging their services. The IAEBP accepts no responsibility for the services provided by any listed therapist.
Therapists listed in the directory are responsible for the accuracy of their own profile information. Directory listing terms are set out separately in the Membership Terms.
10. Third-Party Links
The Website may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for convenience only. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the content, privacy practices or availability of any third-party website. A link does not imply endorsement by the IAEBP.
11. Privacy and Data Protection
We process personal data in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details of how we collect, use and protect your personal data.
12. Disclaimer
The content on this Website is provided for general information purposes only. It is not intended as, and must not be taken as, professional, medical or therapeutic advice.
While we make reasonable efforts to keep the Website content accurate and up to date, we make no representations or warranties (express or implied) that the content is accurate, complete, reliable or current.
To the extent permitted by law, the IAEBP excludes all implied conditions, warranties, representations or other terms that may apply to the Website or any content on it.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
-
the IAEBP shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special or incidental loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Website; and
-
the IAEBP's total aggregate liability to you in connection with the Website shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid to the IAEBP in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100.
This does not affect any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or liability for fraud.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold the IAEBP harmless from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
-
your breach of these Terms;
-
your User Content; or
-
your use of the Website in a manner not authorised by these Terms or applicable law.
15. Copyright Complaints
The IAEBP respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that any content on the Website infringes your copyright, please contact us at info@iaebp.com with the following information:
-
a description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
-
identification of the material on the Website that you believe is infringing, with sufficient detail for us to locate it;
-
your contact details;
-
a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
-
a statement that the information provided is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the copyright owner's behalf.
16. Suspension and Termination
We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, suspend or terminate your access to the Website if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms or that your continued access poses a risk to the Website, its users or the IAEBP.
On termination, all rights granted to you under these Terms shall cease, but any provisions that by their nature should survive (including limitations of liability, indemnity and governing law) shall continue in effect.
17. General
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and (where applicable) our Membership Terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and the IAEBP in relation to your use of the Website.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Waiver. A failure by the IAEBP to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or the right to enforce it at a later date.
No partnership or agency. Nothing in these Terms is intended to, or shall be deemed to, establish any partnership, joint venture, agency or employment relationship between you and the IAEBP.
Third-party rights. These Terms do not confer any rights on any third party under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
Electronic communications. You agree that all notices and communications we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement for such communications to be in writing.
18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, regardless of where you are based. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer based in the European Union, Ireland, Jersey or another jurisdiction, you may also have the benefit of mandatory consumer protection provisions under your local law. Nothing in these Terms affects those rights.
