As part of the membership application and renewal process, IAEBP may request a copy of your Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate, or an equivalent criminal record check where appropriate, together with declarations relating to criminal convictions, cautions, professional disciplinary findings or ongoing investigations.

We collect and process this information only where it is necessary to assess eligibility for membership, help safeguard the public, uphold professional standards, investigate complaints or fitness to practise concerns, or comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

Criminal record information is treated as strictly confidential. Access is restricted to authorised individuals who require it for these purposes, and we take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it. DBS certificates and related information are retained only for as long as necessary to complete the relevant membership, safeguarding or complaints process, or where a longer retention period is required by law or is necessary in connection with legal proceedings or regulatory investigations.
