Treating Children and their Symptoms

Overview

The webinar will be divided into two main parts:

• The first part will cover child development, including neuroscience and the stress response system.  We will look at the family as a system and then the child as differentiated and connected within this system. The wider environment in which the child has to navigate and the importance of significant people in the child’s life will also be examined. 

• The second part will focus on treatment approaches including the use of hypnotic phenomenon such as anchoring and use of metaphors, beliefs, parts and regulation. She will talk about he importance of the therapist as ‘treatment’ in itself. And what to do with dissociation and behavioural issues, such as cutting, school avoidance, OCD, hyper and hypo arousal.
